The Struggle

The Struggle reflects an ongoing negotiation between emotional intensity and the limits of material form. Each sculpture in the series holds the weight of internal states that are difficult to articulate, giving shape to feelings that shift between pressure, fragmentation and resilience.

THE PROCESS

My process begun with translating my immediate emotional state directly into the mould through instinctive, tactile gestures. Once cast, the material asserts its own agency, often producing cracks or structural shifts that I could not anticipate. I respond to these developments physically, sometimes emphasising fractures through hammering,  allowing the material’s disruptions to stand on their own. This exchange between intention and material behaviour forms the core of my making, creating a dialogue in which control and surrender remain in constant tension.
